Currently, the Resort Municipality of Whistler has prohibited all retail stores and dispensaries. Hence, the scarcity of brick and mortar stores in town.

  • You must be 19 years of age or older in BC to buy or consume marijuana.

  • You can have up to 30 grams of marijuana on your person. 

  • In a vehicle, marijuana must be stored in a sealed container, inaccessible to the driver or passengers during transport. 

  • You can have up to 1,000 grams in your house. 

  • And as always, make sure to be a green tourist and don’t litter. 

 

You can smoke weed in the following: 

 

  • In public spaces where tobacco smoking and vaping are allowed;

  • And in a motorhome such as a camper or a trailer home as long as they are being used as a private residence. 

 

What's Not Allowed:

Smoking is illegal in Whistler when it’s done in the following places:  

  • Inside a motor vehicle 

  • Before driving a motor vehicle 

  • Within six meters of doorways and windows attached to public buildings, workplaces, and apartments.

  • Within six meters of transit stops and transit stations.

  • In all public plaza areas and parks (e.g., Town Square, Village Common, Village Square, and Mountain Square) or on the Village Stroll.

Also, provincial law prohibits smoking in parks and on other public property including in or within 25 metres of:

  • Playgrounds

  • School property

  • Playing fields

  • Food concessions

  • Picnic areas

  • Skateboard parks

  • The Valley Trail

Lastly, Whistler Blackcomb prohibits all smoking on their property, this includes the ski, bike, and hiking areas, lift lines, restaurants, and parking areas. And make sure to always check with your hotel or Airbnb about their specific set of rules.
